First Bites Program

Located in Mooresville, NC

A guided start to solids for you & your little one.

Starting solids is exciting—but it can also come with a lot of questions.

Is my baby ready? What foods should I start with? Purées or finger foods? What if my baby gags? How do I know if they're actually chewing? When should we introduce a cup? And how much are they actually supposed to eat?

You don't have to figure it all out on your own.

What is the First Bites Program?

First Bites is MayBee Therapy's 6-week parent-and-baby program designed to help families confidently navigate the transition from milk feeds to solid foods while building a positive foundation for feeding.

6 Weeks. 6 Milestones. One Confident Start.

WEEK 01 — READY

Let's get ready for first bites.

Learn about developmental readiness, positioning, supportive high-chair setup, feeding cues, and what to look for before beginning solids.

WEEK 02 — EXPLORE

It's time to play with food.

Learn how to introduce developmentally appropriate foods and textures while allowing your baby to explore food without pressure.

WEEK 03 — CHEW

Building little feeding skills.

Learn how early chewing develops, how textures progress, the difference between gagging and choking, and what feeding skills to watch for as your baby learns.

WEEK 04 — SIP

Beyond the bottle.

Explore developmentally appropriate cup introduction, including open and straw cups, while supporting emerging drinking skills.

WEEK 05 — NOURISH

Happy bellies matter, too.

Learn about hydration, food variety, bowel patterns, and how feeding and digestive comfort can influence one another. We'll also discuss signs that warrant a conversation with your child's medical provider.

WEEK 06 — THRIVE

Taking First Bites home.

Bring everything together with responsive feeding, family meals, continued food exploration, and an individualized plan for supporting your baby's next stage of feeding development.

Who Is First Bites For?

First Bites is designed for caregivers and babies who are preparing to begin or are in the early stages of starting solid foods and want professional guidance through the process.

You do not need to wait until feeding becomes difficult to ask for support.

First Bites may be a great fit if you're wondering:

  • "Where do I even start?"

  • "I'm terrified of choking."

  • "How should I cut my baby's food?"

  • "Are purées okay?"

  • "When should I introduce a straw or open cup?"

  • "How do I know if my baby is chewing?"

  • "How much should my baby actually be eating?"

  • "What should I do if my baby doesn't like something?"

That's exactly what we're here to help you navigate.

First Bites vs. Feeding Therapy

Not sure which service your little one needs?

FIRST BITES

Best for families looking for guidance and education while beginning solids. Your baby does not need to have an identified feeding difficulty to participate.

COMPREHENSIVE FEEDING EVALUATION

Recommended when there are concerns such as significant difficulty progressing textures, persistent coughing or choking during meals, difficulty managing food or liquids, significant food refusal, poor growth or intake, or other feeding concerns that may require individualized assessment.

Not sure where to start? Contact MayBee Therapy and we'll help determine the most appropriate next step.

How It Works

6 weeks

1 session each week

60 minutes

Small groups of babies + caregivers

Each week you'll learn together during your session and then take simple activities home to practice with your baby before returning the following week.

Because learning to eat doesn't happen in one appointment—it happens through little experiences, every day.

Ready for Your First Bite?

Give your little one a confident beginning and give yourself the tools to enjoy the journey.
